The Emmaus Center Homeless Shelter

Our final nominee for the August edition of Sweatshirt Blanket’s Spread Your Warmth program in the Emmaus Center, a homeless shelter in Ellsworth, Maine. The Emmaus Center exists to provide a safe and comfortable environment for homeless men, women and families in need of temporary shelter who are willing to work towards ending their homelessness.

The Kitchen cares with dignity and compassion

Our next nominee for the August edition of Sweatshirt Blanket’s Spread Your Warmth campaign is Springfield, Missouri’s own The Kitchen. This organization was founded on Palm Sunday in 1983 by Sister Lorraine as a soup kitchen and served their first meal at St. Agnes Grade School Cafeteria.

Our next nominee for the August edition of the Spread Your Warmth campaign is the Crusade for Children. They were established in 1954 by WHAS-TV in Louisville, Kentucky to help raise money for agencies, schools and hospitals to better the lives of special needs children.

The last day of the month brings us the final nominee for the July edition of Sweatshirt Blanket’s Spread Your Warmth campaign. Today we are pleased to present the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. There are 500,000 Oklahomans at risk of hunger every day, including one in five of all children in the state.

The fifth nominee for July’s Spread Your Warmth campaign is Modest Needs. Founded in 2002, Modest Needs is an award-winning public charity whose mission is to to stop the cycle of poverty before it starts for low-income workers whom conventional philanthropy has forgotten.

Give Kids the World Village

Today’s nominee for the May edition of the Spread Your Warmth campaign is Give Kids The World Village, a non-profit resort that creates magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Wish-granting organizations coordinate transportation to Orlando, while Give Kids The World provides accommodations at its whimsical resort, attractions tickets and meals for a week-long fantasy vacation.
