Our tenth, and final, nominee for the May edition of the Spread Your Warmth Campaign is the Durham Rescue Mission. Founded in 1974 by Rev. and Mrs. Ernie Mills, the Durham Rescue Mission is a faith-based, non-profit organization whose goal is to mend shattered lives by ministering to the homeless and addicted in central North Carolina.

Love of Linda Cancer Fund

The ninth nominee for the May edition of Sweatshirt Blanket’s Spread Your Warmth campaign is the Love of Linda Cancer Fund. This organization is named after Linda Bickel Grassi who lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 1994 and her work and love continue through the Love of Linda Cancer Fund.

Give Kids the World Village

Today’s nominee for the May edition of the Spread Your Warmth campaign is Give Kids The World Village, a non-profit resort that creates magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Wish-granting organizations coordinate transportation to Orlando, while Give Kids The World provides accommodations at its whimsical resort, attractions tickets and meals for a week-long fantasy vacation.

PODS Angels connect families, develop advocates

The next nominee is the May edition of Sweatshirt Blanket’s Spread Your Warmth campaign is PODS Angels. PODS Angels, which stands for parents of down syndrome angels, is a non-profit support group organization for parents of down syndrome. PODS Angels began in 1998 after the the founders’ daughter was born with down syndrome.

American Cancer Society

Our sixth nominee for the May edition of Sweatshirt Blanket’s Spread Your Warmth campaign needs no introduction. It is probably safe to say that at one time or another cancer has touched each of our lives. The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

The Friends of Somerset Regional Animal Shelter (FOSRAS) is a volunteer group designed to support the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter (SRAS), “The little shelter with the big heart.”
