in September 2010 Nominees, Spread Your Warmth

The final nominee in Sweatshirt Blanket’s Spread Your Warmth campaign for September is the World Association of Children and Parents (WACAP). They are one of the largest and most experienced international nonprofit adoption and child assistance agencies in the United States.

Since 1976, they have placed nearly 10,000 children with loving adoptive parents and provided food, medical care and education to over 200,000 children worldwide. WACAP is one of the largest and most experienced international nonprofit adoption and child assistance agencies in the United States.

From WACAP’s grassroots beginnings as a local support group for parents who had adopted internationally, they’ve seen tremendous expansion in the scope of their services and the number of children we’re privileged to help. In their early years, we placed children from just two countries: the United States and Korea.

Later they developed adoption and/or child assistance programs in Thailand, India, Colombia, Ecuador, Hong Kong and the Philippines. In the 1990s, WACAP pioneered the first U.S. adoptions from China, Far East Russia and Romania. Since 2000, WACAP has launched additional programs in Ethiopia, Kazakhstan and Vietnam.

Thank you to Julie Alexander for nominating the World Association of Children and Parents for the September edition of Sweatshirt Blanket’s Spread Your Warmth campaign. If you would like to learn more about this cause visit their website.
