As we enter the last week of the month we have four more nominees on tap for the August edition of the Spread Your Warmth campaign. Today’s nominee, Big Fluffy Dog Rescue, is an organization dedicated to helping giant breed mixed breed dogs in need.
They value dogs of all breeds, but specialize in what the name says: big, fluffy dogs. Headquartered in Nashville, Tennesse, Big Fluffy Dog Rescue has volunteers in several states in the South and New England who work to help homeless big fluffy dogs find a home to call their own. They specifically work to save Great Pyrenees, Saint Bernards, Newfoundlands and their mixes from euthanasia.
Their dogs come to rescue for a variety of reasons. Many were abandoned at high kill shelters in the South. Some were turned in by owners who could not properly care for them and still others are failed livestock guardian dogs. Regardless of their origins, their goal for every dog they have is the same: a safe, happy home where each dog is a well-loved member of the family.
Big Fluffy Dog Rescue houses the dogs they take from shelters in foster homes in the South until they are ready to come to either an adoptive home or a foster home in the New England area. They use a USDA- licensed transport company to bring dogs from the South to New England. Transport is a weekly occurrence and fosters and adoptive homes meet the transport at points from Virginia to New Hampshire.
Thank you to Jessica Prince for nominating the Big Fluffy Dog Rescue for the August edition of Sweatshirt Blanket’s Spread Your Warmth campaign. If you would like to learn more about this great organization visit their website.
