Voting time for May’s nominees

by PJ Mullen on June 1, 2010

in Spread Your Warmth, Voting

Our second month of nominations for Spread Your Warmth is in the books and the polls are open. All of May’s nominees have been profiled and it is now time to decide who will receive a package of customized sweatshirt blankets.

Don’t forget, the one who nominates the winning organizations will also receive one of the blankets that we print for their nominee.

If you haven’t caught all of the profiles, here is a list with links to all of the 11 nominees we profiled for May:

After you’ve voted, we’d love it if you could tweet it out or share this on Facebook, especially if the organization you voted for has a page. Last month’s nominees had great success with sharing these links on their pages so other fans of the organization could participate in the voting.

Also, if you are on Twitter, we have put together a quick message you can quickly copy and paste to let people know that you participated:

I just voted for my favorite cause in @sweatshirtblog ’s Spread Your Warmth campaign. You too can vote thru June 7th: http://cot.ag/bCyzOQ

The voting poll will stay in our sidebar until we announce the winner on June 8, 2010.

Thank you very much to all who nominated organizations for the month of May.

We look forward to learning about even more great charitable causes in June. Be sure to get your favorite organization nominated today!

Seems you could make it so people can't cheat on the voting ..its pretty obvious … there is no way they can get that many votes in a minutes time to go back in the lead. So sad people have to cheat a charity thing.

We just got back in from a meeting and saw the numbers ourselves. We are very troubled by what has transpired with voting today. The only other means we have to increase security on the poll is to block voters by IP address through the Polldaddy system, which in the past has prevent anyone for voting at all. It is extremely disappointing to us.

whats going on how has andys army jumped by 400 votes in just a few minutes …… to think someone would cheat to win this contest is unfair

We are very disappointed by the turn of events ourselves and we have shut down voting to discuss this matter with those who nominated the organizations involved.

Please do not put any blame on sweatshirt blanket for this. They are being a very genorous organization for even putting this contest out there to begin with. I am sorry that the whole thing took this turn of events. Many people get very passionate about the groups they care for. All organizations featured this month were very worthy causes and I'm saddened that it turned into this on everyone's behalf.

Please do not blame sweatshirtblanket for this. One thing about modern technology is that there is a way around everything, and if someone wants to, they'll find it. Sweatshirtblanket is not responsible for the actions of anyone who may have scewed the numbers, only those people themselves are.

I appreicate the generosity of sweatshirtblanket in sponsoring contests like this. Both of the leading charities are so worthwhile. I have children with both of these disorders in my life and they are lifechanging. I am confident that the other nominees are equally worthy of our support. While I am sure that all voters are motivated by passion for their cause, I am saddened by the possibility that someone has let his or her devotion exceed the boundaries of fair play. I would ask that all supporters take a moment to say a prayer for each of these organizations and commit to accepting the outcome that sweatshirtblanket determines is appropriate.

    Well said Jana

Jana, thank you for your support. We have been in touch with both organizations and have worked out a solution that we feel is fair to all parties. We will be announcing the results tomorrow morning. Thank you again. ^pj

Andy's Army was honored to be chosen by Sweatshirt Blanket as one of May's candidates for this very worthwhile contest. We have great respect for CranioKids and are very supportive of organizations like theirs that are devoted to creating a network for families in need. Causes like ours are very personal in nature, and I think that the supporters of both are quite passionate about them. While this contest was highly competitive throughout the week, it is very unfortunate that it got out of hand on the last day. Through this contest, I have gotten to know some of the folks involved with CAPPS and CranioKids, and I look forward to our future relationship. Andy's Army stands behind whatever decision that Sweatshirt Blanket makes as to the outcome of this contest.

thank you to sweatshirt blanket.com for coming to such a fair decision, both cranio kids and andy's army have loyal followers but getting awareness out there for both charities is really important. good luck to andy's army with their cause.

We were happy to do it to support two organizations with very important missions. As a father any organization committed to improving the lives of children has a special place in my heart. ^pj

    Is this correct?
